Grimper le Kilimanjaro pour la FHMR
On June 23, I will be flying to Tanzania with my good friend William Brock, our wives and a group of friends.
Together, we will be there for what is shaping up to be one of the greatest self-achievement adventures on record: Ascending Kilimanjaro! This ambitious adventure is in support of the Maryse and William Brock Chair in Applied Research into Stem Cell Transplantation at the Université de Montréal, which I hold.
Taking one step at a time, we will climb some 6,000 metres to the highest peak on the African continent with two very specific objectives in mind: To mark the 15th anniversary of our good friend William’s stem cell transplant, but especially, to raise $500,000, which will be earmarked for the work we are carrying out at the Maryse and William Brock Chair, right here at the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR). Donate to our fundraiser today!
A FRIENDSHIP LIKE NO OTHER
I met William Brock about fifteen years ago, while doing rounds. After months of chemotherapy, he had just received a priceless gift from his brother: A stem cell donation that would enable him to beat leukemia.
I was not his attending physician, but this meeting was the beginning of a spirited friendship between a great litigator and an HMR hematologist and clinical investigator.
He was committed to advancing blood cancer research while I wanted to set up a project that would be long-lasting and provide stability to our qualified professionals.
William put his vast network to good use, taking me along to various meetings and fundraisers to ensure the success of what would become the Maryse and William Brock Chair in Applied Research into Stem Cell Transplantation.
CLIMBING FOR THE CAUSE
By supporting our fundraiser, you will be offering concrete support to the HMR blood cancer treatment research team. The innovations resulting from our work will have a direct impact on patients’ quality of life and will help save lives.
Above all, you will give us the necessary impetus to climb Kilimanjaro! The challenge is daunting, but with everyone’s contribution, we’ll get there.
Thank you for giving generously.
